Dutch archives sign agreement for digital shared services organization
16-06-2010On June 15 a broad delegation of Dutch archives signed an agreement to build a shared services organization for providing permanent access to all Dutch digital public records. The signatories of the agreement included the National Archives, the City Archives of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, the union of archivists KVAN, the union of archives BRAIN, the Regional Historic Centres, the Union of Provincial Archive Inspectors and Digital Heritage Netherlands (DEN) (press release in Dutch, with text of proposal).
This is a breakthrough agreement as it unites archives at all administrative levels: national, regional and local behind a joint plan.

NCDD presents strategic agenda 2010-2013
09-06-2010On 9 June 2010 the Netherlands Coalition for Digital Preservation presented its Strategic Agenda 2010-2013. Building on the results of the national digital preservation survey from 2009 (English language summary), the new document, entitled A future for our digital memory (2): strategic agenda for long-term access to digital resources, highlights cooperation and collaboration as means to address the digital preservation challenge. The document proposes a dual-axis approach: on the one hand collaboration within domains and information chains must be strengthened.
