At a ceremony on November 7th in Amsterdam, the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and the Netherlands Coalition for Digital Preservation (NCDD), signed an agreement to join forces to help agencies in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands address the complex challenge of making sure our collected digital memory can be accessed into the future.
'Although we depend on them for so much of our daily routine, digital objects can be fragile' explained William Kilbride of the DPC. 'They are so ubiquitous that it's easy to treat them as disposable. But the reality is that many of these resources are going to be valuable in the future too and we are poorly prepared to ensure long-term access.

link for online registration
There is an early registration fee discount so please ensure you book early to ensure your place as we expect this conference will be very well attended. We have confirmed speakers representing both the Indian and UK governments and large institutions like CERN in Switzerland and STFC in the UK as well as large commercial organisations like ORACLE.
As a joint conference, this is a great opportunity for the digital preservation community in Europe and the US to engage with the Indian digital preservation groups and exchanging knowledge and ideas that will benefit all parties. The APA is heavily involved in broadening its membership internationally and we have been actively engaging with the Indian community - C-DAC is an APA member - and developing our relationship with government and commercial organisations.
We look forward to welcoming you to New Delhi in February 2014.
